Mrs. Ethel S. MacDonald, 90, of Crystal River died Friday, September 2, 2016 at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville. A native of Limestone, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Mary Ouellette Sirois, and had lived in Lake City for many years before moving to Crystal River. While living in Lake City, Mrs. MacDonald worked at the Supervisor of Elections office for 16 years before being elected as the Supervisor of Elections. She was retired from the State of Florida Job Service after 25 years and continued her service work at Seven Rivers Hospital in Crystal River for over 20 year. She enjoyed taking care of her family and boating and fishing. She was preceded in death by her husband James I. MacDonald in 1996, and sons, Jeff MacDonald in 1988 and Gary MacDonald in 2007.
Mrs. MacDonald is survived by her son, Craig MacDonald (Valerie) of Aspen, Colorado; daughter, Janis Logan (Raymond) of Lake City; brother, Fred Sirois of Windsor Locks, Connecticut; sister Edwena Whited of Bridgewater, Maine; grandchildren, Zachary (Stephanie), Scott, and Cory MacDonald, Christopher Johnson, Ray Logan (Trisha), Brandy Womble (Brad); great grandchildren, Ryan Mammana, Milo MacDonald, Emma and Carter Logan, Lilly Swan, Ellie and Avery Womble.
Memorial services for Mrs. MacDonald will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel.
