Mr. Daniel A. “Dannie” Harden, 74, of Providence, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, December 5, 2017 at the Haven-Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center with his family by his side. He was born in High Springs, Florida on February 5, 1943 to the late William Dan and Eula Bryan Harden. He was a member of the Union County High School graduating class of 1961 and was a retired mechanic from the Army/National Guard in Lake City. He also worked and drove for DCT, retiring from driving in 2015. He loved to work and loved to work on the farm in his spare time. He also enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren every chance he got. He was a member of the Hopeful Baptist Church in Lake City and is preceded in death by his son; John Daniel Harden and his brother; Perry Harden.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years; Emily Harden of Providence; son; Robert (Kari) Harden of Providence and his three grandchildren; Hunter (Datein) Ash of Live Oak, Will Harden and Delani Harden both of Providence. Many extended family members and friends along with his “adoptive” sister; Charlotte (Ray) Townsend also survives.
Funeral services for Dannie will be conducted on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Zeb Cook of Hopeful Baptist Church and Rev. Kenneth Edenfield of The Cross Church officiating. Interment will follow in Old Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, December 8, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Hopeful Baptist Church Building Fund or The Cross Church Building Fund.
