Daniel Robert Turner

June 15, 1939 ~ November 9, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Daniel Robert Turner, 78 of Anderson, South Carolina, and longtime former resident of Lake City, Florida, passed away on Thursday November 9th, 2017 at the Anmed Health Medical Center in Anderson, South Carolina.  He was born in Kannappolis, North Carolina to the late Owen Grady Turner and Frances Holahan Turner.  He earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Civil engineering from the University of Florida.  Mr.Turner moved to Lake City in 1970 and was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church. He was a past president of Lake City Jaycees, member of the Florida Department of Transportation Review Board, former chairman and board member of C.M.E.C. and retired from the Florida Department of Transportation in 1999 after 30 years of service. He then worked for Universal Engineering for 10 years.  Mr. Turner holds 2 patents and authored a book on financial management.  

 

 

He is survived by his wife of 29 years Luann, his son Dennis Turner (Euihee), Marilyn Turner, Brenda Jones (George), Marjo Ives (John), Beth Adams (Ryan), Marie MacLaren, and Matt Bergen (Fawn).  He had 8 grandchildren: Matthew Phillips-Turner, Samantha Lawrence (Austin), Michael and Ava Turner, Gloria and Brian Prekler, Ethan and Luke Bergen, and one great grandson Sawyer Lawrence.

 

A funeral mass will be conducted on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 9:30 AM at Epiphany Catholic Church with Father Rob Trujillo officiating.  Interment will follow at Bethel Methodist Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 6-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
