D E Coward

D.E. Coward, 97 of Ridge Manor, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017, at the Bayfront Health Medical Center in Dade City, FL.  He was born the youngest and eighth child, to the late Daniel Edwards Coward and Pearl Hilliard Coward, in Waco, Texas.  Mr. Coward had made his home in Ridge Manor, Florida for the past ten years and had previously been a longtime resident of Miami and Lake City, Florida.  He went to work at the age of 19 working on Airplanes in support of the WWII war effort, was a graduate of Emory-Riddle Aeronautical University in Miami and retired in 1978 from Eastern Airlines.   He enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Baltimore Orioles and the Miami Dolphins.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Martha B. Coward, in 2000.

Survivors include his son, Walt Coward (Darlene), Leesburg, GA; his daughter, Carol C. Baum (John), Lexington, SC; his loving companion, Elizabeth Wright, Ridge Manor, FL and her children, Gary Haudenschild (Janice), Ridge Manor and Susan Reid (Lynn), Miami; 10 grandchildren, Keith Coward (Rebecca), Spring Hill, TN, Carrie C. Dent (Michael), Tifton, GA, Caleigh Lentz, Buckhead, GA, Tracy Baum (Denisse) and Art Baum, both of Miami, Sheri Bond (Eric) and Brian Baum, both of Lexington, SC, Nikki Graham (Billy) and Brittany Blocker and Cole Howard all of Albany, GA; sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Mr. Keith Coward officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the funeral on Sunday from 2-3:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the charity of your choice.
