Carl Eugene Hodson, Sr.

April 19, 1931 ~ December 17, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Carl Eugene Hodson, Sr., 86, of Fort White, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, December 17, 2017 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville after an extended illness. He was born in Xenia, Ohio on April 19, 1931 to the late Bill and Ann Dillard Hodson. He has lived in Florida most of his life, residing in White Springs most of that time. He was an eight year US Army Veteran, who was in the Korean War and earned a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and several other accolades. After his service time, he was a CNA, LPN and Nurse for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed reading his Bible and western books; he also enjoyed watching John Wayne movies. He was of the Church of God faith. He is preceded in death by his siblings; Paul Hodson, Junior Hodson, Richard Hodson, Max Hodson and Thelma Weiss.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years; Wonda Hodson of Fort White; sons; Carl Hodson, Jr. (Laurie) of Ft. White, Parker Hodson, Sr. (Lenora) of Bartow and Anthony Hodson, Sr. (Jackie) of Winter Haven; daughters; Cindy Tassic of Cape Coral, Toni Norris (Ronnie) of Lake City, Lanna Quintana (Paul) of Cape Coral, LaWonda Law (Larry) of Wellborn and Tina Selph (Jody) of Jennings. Thirty grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends also survive.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Hodson will be conducted on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. (one hour prior to the services) at the funeral home.
