Lake City Reporter Obituary Notice

Mrs. Beatrice Parrish Norman, 85 of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Health Center of Lake City.  She was born in Lake Butler, Florida to the late Thomas A. Parrish and Mable A. Hendricks Parrish and had resided in Lake City for the past 50 years moving here from Plant City, FL.  Mrs. Norman retired from the Columbia County School System after 26 years of employment.  She was of the Baptist faith and a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church where she previously served in the Homebound Ministry, the Building Fund Committee for construction of a new sanctuary, and she sang in the choir.  Mrs. Norman enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, traveling with her late husband Jack and visiting with her siblings, nieces and nephews. She was kind, gracious and willing to help those in need.  Mrs. Norman was preceded in death by her husband of over 52 years, Jack F. Norman in 2002, four brothers and nine sisters.

Survivors include her two sons, Ronald Norman (Linda), Louisville, KY and Stephen Norman (Gaye Lynn), Lake City; three grandchildren, Eric Slaymaker, Lake City, Sarah Gille (Justin), West Palm Beach, FL and Stephen Norman Jr., Lake City.  Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.

A memorial service honoring Mrs. Norman’s life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11:00 am at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Rodriguez, pastor officiating and Rev. Mike Brown.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center at 6037 W US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055.  Cremation arrangements were under the direction of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN Funeral Home, Lake City.
