Barbara Jean Evans, 79 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City surrounded by her family. She was born in McDonald, Tennessee to the late Chester Burton Romines and Maude Elizabeth Bancroft. Ms Evans had made her home in Lake City since 1961 having moved here from Bunnell, Florida and was a graduate of Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, FL. She was a longtime member of the North Lake City Church of God and served cleaning the church for over 20 years. Ms Evans loved her family and was a “Prayer Warrior” at the North Lake City Church of God, always praying for others. She was preceded in her husband, Williams Evans, three brothers, Marion, Marvin and Franklin Romines and two sisters, Anna Faye Drago and Virginia Ruth Romines.
Survivors include her three sons, Donald Evans, Sr., Lake City, Phillip Evans (Jennifer), Leavenworth, KS and Daniel Evans (Susan), Lake City; one daughter, Martha Evans (Nelson), Lake City; four sisters, Dorthella Tinsley, Joyce Sherlin, Debbie Saout and Glenda “Jo” Wilson; eight grandchildren, Chasity Lynn Nolan (Ronald), Lake City, Donald Ray Evans, Jr. (Cindy), Ft. White, Nelson Evans, III, Lake City, Mandie Jonas (Kendrick), Lake City, Chad Evans (Heather), Augusta, GA, Brad Evans (Liz Garcia), Gainesville, Destiny Evans and Austin Evans both of Lake City; and six great-grandchildren, R.J. Nolan, Lake City, Phoenix Evans and Crystal Evans both of Ft. White, Kaylin Evans, Kaleya Jonas and Kyrie Jonas all of Lake City.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at North Lake City Church of God with Rev. E.A. Holbrooks, pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening from 5-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
